Heating Up

It's officially summer in Japan, with temperatures routinely rising above 90 degrees with high humidity! This is the kids' last week of school before summer break starts, but despite the summer heat, they are looking forward to the break. Things are heating up with ministry as well!

Updates & Praise:

  • We've started getting involved in some more ministry as we continue language study.

    • Jeff took a turn leading the men's Bible study last month, and was able to participate in a Japanese dad's group (mostly non-believers) where he and teammate Justin were able to present our stories of being dads in Japan and share our Christian family values as well.

    • Malia has begun regularly helping out with children's ministry on Sundays at Denen, and has also begun leading portions of our team's bimonthly meetings.

  • Praise God that we have lived in our apartment in Kawasaki for 1 year now! We are thankful for all the ways God is providing for and taking care of us. We were able to use our home to host another team event recently.

  • Mason celebrated his 10th birthday. We are so proud of him! God is doing amazing things through this boy!

  • Elijah is now 7 months old. What a fun-loving (and very curious) little boy he is becoming! We had him dedicated to the Lord at Denen on May 28th.

  • Praise God for some new, increased, and renewed supporters in recent months. God is good!

Prayer:

  • Our home church Lighthouse's VBS short-term missions team is arriving in Japan later this month, the first since the pandemic hit. We are very excited to receive the team this time, and to serve the kids in Ibaraki alongside them (July 29th through August 6th)!

  • Please continue to pray for our Cross Project team as we go through some changes. Please pray for divine wisdom for how best to proceed, and for decisions to be made regarding ministry and focus.

  • Please pray for us to continue to learn the language well and apply it, and to make Japanese friends, which has proven difficult.

We would love to hear from you, whether it be to share your prayer requests or to simply catch up. Please know that we think of you and pray for you often.

Thanks and blessings,
